Wednesday ....1/27/2010. I figured as long as I'm gonna be down here for 2 months doing nothing but drinking and sleeping... I could funnel some pent up energy into doing something I'm really good at and takes little work. Lacing & truing motorcycle wheels. Oh yeah, and it pays really well !!! So I ran an ad in the Daytona News-Journal for a month and voila.. phone is ringing off the hook !! ( wait a minute... cell phones don't have hooks !!! ). Anyway I've already gotten 4 jobs each at about 50-90 bux a piece and the calls just keep on coming. I brought my motorcycle truing stand from home along with my truing spoons, dial micrometers.. etc and I'm totally set up to work on pretty much anything. The cool thing is that Daytona is home to the largest bike week in the world... much larger than Sturgis or Laudon. I think the possibilities are endless since the art of a "Wheelwright" is pretty rare. Thanks to my dad for teaching me when I was a widdle boy.
The wheel I'm working on in the picture is a 1947 Indian rear wheel. Anything goes !!!!
The weather today is AWESOME !!! Sunny and about 75dgs. My buddy Tony Alphonse is here visiting for 2 weeks and he borrowed my car today to go visit his brother in Ocala ( 88 miles away) so I'm homebound for the day. I guess I'll finish this wheel and hit the pool this afternoon.
Gotta get back to the "gourmet cooking" as well.... future posts will have pics. On tonights menu is Coconut Shrimp w/marmalade dipping sauce.. steamed veggies and mussels steamed in Chardonay. Yummmmy Later all.
